For a normal metals there is a Drude peak, but the important point about the energy gap in superconductor is, some say that the condition for superconductivity is having the energy gap which is wrong. the energy gap is not a necessary condition for superconductivity.
No but the energy gap does determine the critical temperature; the point below which superconductivity occurs
ReplyDeletethe energy gab is a prediction of BCS (Bardeen – Cooper – Schrieffer)theory .this gab is probotional to 1/temperature .so the gab reduces with higher temperature.
ReplyDelete"not necessary condition" means for some superconductors, there is no energy gap, doens't it?
