Coordination number of face centered cubic lattice

Because I have difficulties to imagine the coordination number of face centered cubic lattice I thought this shape could help. FCC has coordination number 12 which is the number of nearest neighbors of each point. ( Fig. reference: Crystallography website)

    I agree that was hard to imagine. So, the Coordination number of face centered cubic lattice is the number of the nearest face atoms not the corner atoms!

    It is really hard to imagine how FCC lattice's coordination number .However, with this picture this could be much easier .

    I could convince myself that FCC has coordination number 12 when I took the corner points but for the face points I couldn't get 12 and this picture helped me to understand it...

    You can also see the second lattice in the middle of the first that Paul mentioned in class.

    I found hard to get 12 coordination number of FCC why it is not 14? but after i saw this picture and thought about Paul talk for sodium chloride i got the idea.
