crystal systems are seven or six ?
I read one interesting article about crystal systems that are six in the United State schools, while they are seven on other countries. The reason for this in this link http://www.yourgemologist.com/crystalsystems.html and you will see amazing pictures about seven crystal system .

It is really interesting that trigonal's shape is really close to hexagonal but when we see the properties such as the angles and lengths between lattice points of these two in Bravais lattice ,they are different.
ReplyDeleteFrom the pictures in the link, it's not too difficult to see why the Americans might think that way. However, there are more differences than similarities between the hexagonal and trigonal systems. Therefore they should be separate systems.
